The Camera Japan Festival is an annual festival of which the 15th edition takes place this year. In addition to showing Japanese films, the festival also focuses on Japanese culture in the broader sense of the word, such as food, crafts, customs and the influence of Japanese culture, in the form of small workshops, activities , lectures and exhibitions.
Sharon van Dams, one of the younger artists at Atelier Herenplaats, has developed her own style. In her work she is influenced by Japanese manga and the work of KUSAMA Yayoi. Her work has already been exhibited in Japan! Although she mainly draws women and girls in cheerful, radiant colors, the drawings sometimes take on a dark aspect, sometimes even horror-like, when you look at the details. Sharon has her own instagram account, where you can follow her recent work!
There will be a retrospective of Sharon at the Camera Japan Festival in Lantaren/Venster. The festival runs from 23 to 27 September, the exhibition can be viewed on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September from 12 noon and on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September from 10 am. The entrance to the exhibition is free.
