Ronald Schriel @ ‘What goes down, must come up’

Ronald is an artist who mainly works from his feelings. For him, art is a way to create his own visual reality, as opposed to the (sometimes hard, difficult) reality of the real world. Ronald Schriel has been working at atelier Herenplaats since 2008. For Ronald, making art is something that allows him to express himself in a way that he cannot say in so many words. It gives him peace of mind and self-confidence. He likes to work at his own leisurely pace in the studio.

Ronald has experimented a lot with various materials and techniques and has developed his own, special style. At first glance, his work seems almost abstract, but on closer inspection, the realistic details emerge. His work is not created by premeditated planning, but grows and develops organically, time and time again, with different colours and shapes. These elements influence each other, creating a game. This process does not happen intellectually, but comes from within.

Ronald’s fascinating work goes in all directions, but in the end he always strives for balance. Sometimes his work is abstract, sometimes figurative, optical or humorous. Both literally and figuratively, his creations tell a story that interweaves above, below and through each other.
