25th anniversary of artist Laan Irodjojo with presentation of bags!
From 2005 to 2015, a huge printed canvas of the work of Laan Irodjojo with the image of the Schieland Tower and Schieland House was hung on the corner of Schilderstraat/Schiedamse vest. This 3.5 by 14 meter canvas has been preserved and moved to the Schietbaanstraat where Galerie Atelier Herenplaats has been located since 2015. To make room in storage and not just throw the cloth away, but to give it a nice second destination, it has been decided to have bags made from it. Telma Patricia Fonseca Monteiro of Invalid Atelier has been asked to design and take on production. The result is three beautiful different sizes of bags in a small edition of 10 for each size. Each bag is unique because it is a small cut-out of the printed painting, with careful attention to lines and color.
With this sustainable and unique product, a special collaboration has been realized between Herenplaats artist Laan Irodjojo, who is celebrating his 25th anniversary as an international artist this year, and Invalid Atelier. Laan paints Rotterdam city landscapes, ships and buildings and has many exhibitions to his name in the Netherlands and abroad.
Patricia’s Invalid Atelier is located across the street from Galerie Atelier Herenplaats at Rijnhoutplein 1. Patricia designs special clothing in which the creative process and technical expertise are constantly on the way to perfection. She also gives courses and workshops in the field of fashion design, fashion technique and pattern drawing. Patricia studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
You are cordially invited to attend the presentation of the bags in and in front of the Art Bar at R.Rijnhoutplein on Saturday September 5 at 3 pm during the Rijnhoutplein Festival.
